We design and run all of our tours ourselves. Our house, Chateau Coulon Laurensac, lies in the vineyards and we visit the wineries of Médoc and Saint Emilion almost every week. With our company you travel with a professional and licensed tour operator. We are a member of the Bordeaux Tourist Office and we are a member of the W.T.I.A.: The Wine Tour International Association.

About Ronald and Margaret Traveling with the Bordeaux Wine Experience means traveling with us. You can turn to us with confidence. We know what we are doing: We have been visiting, tasting and touring Bordeaux for more than 20 years. We both are Wine Masters, certified by the Dutch Wine Academy and both have a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering and Management Science.

We visited most of Europe’s wine growing regions, starting of course in France. We visited and studied Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhone, Champagne, Loire, Languedoc as well as the major wine producing regions of Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Hungary and even Austria.
As everything in wine is about taste (and taste buds...), we found out that our preference lies in the Bordeaux wines. These wines are our preference and have been our passion for over 20 years now. We love what we do and it shows. We love sharing our beautiful region with you on our tours. For us this is not a job, it is a passion.

A different view
No gala dinners or other formal and stuffy events on our wine tours. Leave your tuxedo, suits and ties at home! A wine tour is a vacation and you are on vacation to have fun!
In an informal relaxed atmosphere we will introduce you to the fun of wine and wine tasting. The French enjoy their wines; they don’t feel the need to read four different books before they can drink a glass of wine. Of course if you know a little bit more about the region and its wines you’ll appreciate it more. We will introduce you to this knowledge, but the most important part is that you will enjoy tasting these wines and have fun on our tours.

A passion for traveling and for France
Our other passion is traveling. We traveled to The United States, Canada and Mexico, Africa, Cuba, Guadeloupe, Martinique, India and almost every country in Europe. As seasoned travelers we know what is important to you when you visit another country.

After we successfully sold our company in the Netherlands we decided to fulfil our dream and go and live in France.
When we first saw Chateau Coulon Laurensac in the Bordeaux wine region, we just fell in love with it. (not a good bargaining position, but you know how it is...).
We love to share this beautiful 18th. century castle with you on our tours.

 

If you want to contact us it's Margaret who will answer and provide you with all the information you might need. As she loves cooking and is an excellent chef, she will be responsible for the meals you will have at Chateau Coulon Laurensac. She will expertly have selected all restaurants and each and every meal on our tours. Ronald will be your tour guide, as well as the one that will accompany all tasting's. As a seasoned wine educator he has been organizing and conducting wine tastings for almost 25 years. Ronald is a Certified Western Europe Culinary Travel Specialist. With almost 20 years of experience teaching Marketing, Management Science and Industrial Economics, at a leading Dutch University of Professional Education, he knows how to explain things. He will quickly have a feel for the way our guests are interested in wine and can explain things in a way that will be interesting for all "levels" in wine knowledge. Ronald has an impressive wine collection and he will be responsible for the selection of the wines that you will taste during your stay with us. Ronald and Margaret are both fluent in English and French.

Small groups
We want to keep things personal. That's why we only organize tours for small groups and tailor made trips.
A small group from our perspective means a maximum of five couples, the maximum number we can accommodate at our Chateau.
The tour activities of The Bordeaux Wine Experience have their base at Château Coulon Laurensac where Ronald and Margaret have been living for many years. Guests won't stay in hotels but at our own Michelin rated Chateau.
